Another long weekend! I'm getting used to this lazing around lark!

Just a little outfit post today- I bought this shorts a few weeks ago and am very much in love with them! They're comfy and casual but I feel like they could probably be dressed up for a night out.

I'm also in love with my new watch necklace I found on ebay. It shipped from Hong Kong and I think I paid a total of £3 for it including postage! It's lovely and heavy and doesn't feel cheap.

 

I should add that these were all bought before my self-imposed shopping ban! I started it last weekend and I'm sticking to it so far, but it's only a week! My May is quite busy so I will be spending a lot on nights out etc so hopefully I won't miss shopping too much!


I'm off to visit family this afternoon and then the rest of my weekend will be relaxed!

Long time no blog! The time has slipped away from me, and I can't belive it'll be May in a week!

Like everyone, I've been throughally enjoying the Easter weekend: Sun, Days off and Chocolate! It also gave me a chance to reflect on my current spending habits which are not what you'd call healthy! I always start the month with good intentions, and plan all my outgoings sensibily. Then about halfway through the month I get a bit silly and start spending willy-nilly. By the end of the month I have very little left and am counting the hours til payday, often borrowing off other people! I'm getting a bit sick of living like this, it makes me feel rubbish at the end of the month!

 

So this month i'm going to try something a little different! I've worked out all my expenses like normal, but I'm putting myself on a unnecessary spending ban! That means no clothes, make-up, toilettries, unplanned snacks, books, magazines (gulp!). If I stick to this I should have a healthy amount left at the end of the month rather than surviving on £10 for 2 weeks!

 

This ban is until the end of May, wish me luck!

Rummaging for answers in the pages, We're living in a den of thieves

I've had a long weekend this weekend, it's been lovely! And I could not ask for better weather! I got a hair cut on Friday which I LOVE, basically just had a fringe put in but I love it!

I went shopping this weekend for what feels like the first time in aggges! I bought some tan shorts which I've been looking for, no photos as I can't get a good one! I'm wearing them today with a white t-shirt and black tights.
 Today is the last day of my weekend and I'm going to attempt to give blood in a couple of hours! I have such terrible veins that they sometimes can't get the needle in well enough to get a pint, so fingers crossed! Especially since working in transfusion I appreciate the important of giving blood if you can. Unlike other coutnries, blood donation in the UK is voluntary and it really does save so many lives. The National Blood Service are incredible and work really hard to get the right blood to the right patient, and I think we're lucky to have such a system in place.

Tesco Haul!

I mentioned yesterday that I took a walk along the canal to Tesco. This was primarily to look at some clothes in the flesh that I'd seen online, and also an excuse to go for a walk along the canal!
I actually entered up buying a bit more than I meant to...

...yeah I don't know what's going on with my face in the last picture! But it shows the dress well! I bought another dress in the same style...

And the best part of all this?

They were doing an in-store promotion where you got £5 off clothes if you spent over £25, so the whole lot came to under £40!

There is a light that never goes out

This week has been a bit of a toughie but I'm slowly feeling more like myself today! I had a headache start on Sunday evening that continued until Friday morning! Needless to say I haven't been my most wonderful this week, but this epic headache made me go to the doctors on Thursday in desperation, where my new (wonderful!) doctor diagnosed migraines and gave me new medication to try! I was told years ago when I first got these headaches that they were "tension headaches" and have been taking medication that hasn't really worked. Since moving house in November however, I joined a new GP surgery and I love my new doctor! He actually LISTENS to me and questions my symptoms and is keen to try different things, not just stay on the same not working medication! I've been prescibed Pizotifen which I took for the first time last night, having been warned that it will make me drowsy at first. I did feel quite lethargic today, but still managed a walk along the canal to Tesco and a trip to the library!

And also a bat-wing type cardigan from Primark in the sale. I'm not super sure about it but it was only £5!!!

I miss you but it looks like you summered well

So it seems like Spring may have arrived! I generally think i'm more of an Autumn/Winter person than a Summer girl... I hate being too hot and suffer from hayfever! But I usually dislike the first few months of the year- Christmas has gone, we're all broke and the weather is miserable! So I'm now really glad that its feeling more summery, fresh and cheerful!

I unpacked some of my Summer clothes yesterday and wore a skirt without tights (GASP!)

 

 I also painted my nails a fresh pink and decorated the thumbs with some gems I found in the Pound Shop of all places!

This week has unfortunately not been much better than the last as I've been suffering with a horrendous cold all week! I've managed not to take time off work which is a plus (i'm asthmatic so I often get chest infections with bugs) but have been very wiped out and tired. I went to an amazing gig on Friday night, into London to see the fantastic band Cake, who played amazingly. However I woke up yesterday feeling poorly again, so back to bed I went!
Luckily I feel fine today and a lot more positive. A productive morning seeing the doctor and shopping put me in the right mood for the day, and now my dinner is in the slow cooker (a new recipe I stumbled upon). I've also managed to do a bit of work and tidy the flat a little.

My weekends seem to be flying by! Can't believe its Sunday evening AGAIN! I love my job, but seriously, where the hell did it go?

When you feel embarrassed then i'll be your pride

I had one of those weeks last week. So much so that I've only just got my "ommph" back. Nothing particularly awful happened, and I even had a day off, it was just filled with little frustrations which got right under my skin, including:

• Learning that my right wisdom teeth are coming through. I had my left ones out 2 years ago after many years of pain, and the process of getting them out wasn't much fun, so I'm really hoping righties behave themselves and come out straaaaight
• Despite upping my headache medication and feeling like a zombie after 11pm, I still had a considerable amount of headaches last week, several of which I woke up with
• Ever ongoing struggle with budgetting and money, and figuring out what I can afford so I have enough money left at the end of the month. This means shopping is off for the immediate future :(
• A very depressing meeting at work; big changes are coming, but no-one really knows what these changes mean so everyone feels a bit limbo at the moment
• My bank managing to make the process of getting a replacement card so excruciating that I've had to try very hard not to lose my temper on several occasions!

To top it all off, this weekend flew by soooo quickly, and I spent most of the day in bed yesterday with a sore throat! I went to bed in a bit of a "poor me" grump, but luckily today went quite well so I'm going to have a kind Lizzy week and make sure I look after myself this week! This means early bedtimes, wrapping up warm, trying to think positive, and just generally not beating myself up about the little things! For me, just realising that I've been finding things a bit hard and vowing to cut myself some slack is half the battle to getting back to my usual bouncy self :)

So here's to an easy week *raises chai tea*!

Excuse the make-up free face! I'm.... ok with how my hair turned out. I'm glad it didn't go orange but it's not nearly as red as I wanted it to go!

This evening has been spent with bf on the sofa- burritos, vodka and rubbish telly- nice chilled night in!

TGIF

It's been a busy week and so tonight I'm curled up in front of the telly with a cup of chai tea latte in my favourite mug.

I bought the mug several years ago for about £2 from Asda! It's lovely and big and fits in my hand very well. Unfortunately it's now chipped and is getting a bit tired but I haven't seen anything which compares! I steamed from milk using my coffee machine as well as using hot water to make the drink and sprinkled some cinnamon on top!

Since the beginning of 2nd year uni I've been dyeing my hair various shades of browny/reddy/purpley! My natural hair colour is a rather dull mousey mid brown so once i'd got the guts to start playing with permenant colour I've fooled around a bit! I used to be rather cautious about colours and would spend ages in boots trying to find the right colour I was looking for. Now i'm a bit more careless- the way I see it that it will always grow out, and colour fades!

On Saturday I'm enlisting the boy's help (he's a fab colourist, sssh!) to go something like this

However, I just did a patch test (be safe!) and it looks rather orange:

I would LOVE to be able to pull off ginger/auburn hair but unfortunately it would look awful on me.



So we shall see the results on Saturday!

This week has flown by! I cannot believe it is nearly March! It'll be Summer before we know it!

Yesterday was the first time I stepped out the hosue without a coat... it was chucking it down with rain but rather warm! This outfit is a bit of a different style to what I normally wear, but I was "shopping my closet" and came up with this ensemble:

I've got a half day at work tomorrow and am off on Tuesday due to the boy having an important assessment tomorrow! I had my equilivant one last May and it's a culmanation of 2 years of hard work so it's definately a cause for celebration!

1) I was going to do an outfit post yesterday, but my camera battery died as soon as I started! I'm in no position to take photos today so i'm afraid you're left with a text heavy post!

2) It's PAYDAY on Friday! Thank goodness! Although this month has been short, I paid back some IOUs this paycheque, so although I've been really good this month I'm still counting down to pay day! First thing to buy will be a box of hair dye- i'm going to go redder!

3) This week I'm going out for dinner and drinks with two great friends which was originally planned for over a month ago! I'm very much looking forward to it! Then on Saturday we're going out with friends for really yummy posh Chinese, can't wait!

4) Work is going well although this week is going to be busy! Thinking I should motivate myself to do some portfolio work in my lunch break and after work!

5) I've started a new medication for my tension headaches, which I hope will really help in the long run, but atm is making me super drowsy and sleepy- I've fallen asleep on the sofa and had a nap!

6) I've been browsing websites for nice clothes but nothing is really catching my eye at the moment! Hopefully once Spring has really sprung and I can properly ditch the coat and thick tights, more floaty dresses and thin knits will appeal a bit more!

L O V E

I have a secret. I rather like Valentine's Day. This might be because I'm in a relationship. But as someone whose favourite colours include pink and red, its hard not to like a holiday where there are pretty things everywhere in pink and red.

It also provides the perfect excuse to...

...wear super girly tights...

...drink yummy, cheap pink fizz...

...buy novely confetti and sprinkle it everywhere...

 ...wear pretty red headbands with bows
